Petition Started to Examine if County Citizens Want 5 Commissioners
A broader representation of the citizens of Monongalia County is needed on the commission. We have endorsed more accessible meetings and a five member commission. Now we have taken the next step in bringing the expanded commission to reality.
After the recent online petition asking to return the state slogan to “Wild and Wonderful” Riff established a petition on the same website as WVU student Logan Wheatcraft for citizens who agree with a five member commission to sign.
“When I heard a WVU student located an online source for petitions it only made sense to get one started to expand the commission. This will give us some idea as to whether people really believe this commission is doing its job accurately representing the entire county” Riff said.
Riff said that nearly everyone he has spoke with agrees that the commission needs to be increased to more directly represent the growing population of Monongalia County. He also applauds the student for bringing this new public information tool to light. “It just goes to show the resources we have in our citizens is the most valuable we have” Riff said.
